Nigerian rapper Efe Ejeba, winner of the 2017 edition of Big Brother Naija reality television show has signed an endorsement deal with educational outfit, Kalinga University, India. The “Warri’’ crooner made the announcement on his instagram handle @efemoney where he wrote: “its official, African Brand Ambassador for Kalinga University India. Powered by @dahksn (official representative for Africa)’’. “Kalinga University offers scholarship opportunities to Nigerians and other African students. #OgheneWekobiruo #Yeba #Magician,’’ he wrote. Efe, who seemed interested in supporting Education, recently donated chairs and desks to two schools, RCM Kabong and ECWA primary schools in Jos. Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU), have identified one Miss Monica Osagie as the female student involved in the sex-for-mark scandal currently rocking the school.  An audio conversation which surfaced online last week exposed one of the school’s lecturers, Professor Richard Akindele asking for five rounds of sex from Monica Osagie before she can pass his course.  A panel of inquiry was constituted by the school authority to investigate the matter and an interim report presented by the panel to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitoye Ogunbodede yesterday April 19th, identified the female student as Monica Osetobe Osagie who was studying for a Masters in Business Administration.  While speaking after receiving the report, Professor Ogunbodede said that Osagie was invited to testify but she refused “The committee observed that a prima facie case of inappropriate relationship with the female student had been established against Professor R...

OAU Professor Richard Akindele Suspended

In the telephone conversation the lecturer was heard demanding to sleep with the female student 5 times before he could award her marks. According to a member of the commitee that was set up to investigate the matter the committee recommended the suspension of the professor pending the time the final report will be ready. It was learnt that the committee had ealier invited the professor and the female student but she did not appear. Only the professor honoured the investigation.   

ASUU chides FG over poor allocation to education sector

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU ) has chided the Federal Government for appropriating what it described as a “ paltry seven per cent to the education sector ” in the 2018 budget. The union said tertiary institutions in Nigeria had never been so under - funded as currently being experienced. President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria will meet Donald Trump in Washington on April 30 to discuss issues including “fighting terrorism” and economic, the White House announced Sunday. “President Trump looks forward to discussing ways to enhance our strategic partnership and advance our shared priorities: promoting economic growth and reforms, fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security, and building on Nigeria’s role as a democratic leader in the region,” the White House said in a statement.

OAU Don advocates Agricultural Technology Adoption as Panacea for Food Insecurity and Sustainable Farming Systems

P rofessor Simeon Adebayo BAMIRE, a Professor of Agricultural Resource Economics and the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria delivered OAU 315th Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday 27th of March, 2018 at the Oduduwa Hall of the University. The Lecture was titled: “Agricultural Technology Adoption: Panacea for Sustainable Farming Systems”. In the Lecture, Professor Bamire interrogates the low adoption of improved agricultural technologies in developing countries against the success stories of the Green Revolution experienced by Asian countries. Most candidates having received their 2018 JAMB results must be wondering their chances of securing admission this year.
